David R. Benson was born in Darby Township, Pa. and graduated from Darby High School. He attended Howard University on a 4 year scholarship where he majored in Mathematics and Physics. He was commissioned through the ROTC program and served in the US Army Artillery as a First Lieutenant in the Guided Missile School at Ft. Sill Oklahoma where he was chief of the Propulsion Instructional Section for Ground to Ground missile systems.
Mr. Benson worked at Sun Oil Company as a software engineer before becoming an independent consultant. He was Director of client education at Gryphon Systems and subsequently joined with four other IT professionals to form B.A.S.S. Computer Services where he was Director of Client Services. He was also a pioneering member in the formulation of Black Data Processing Associates (BDPA) which has grown into an international organization. Mr. Benson is currently employed by Ceridian as a Software Engineer in the Health and Productivity division.
Mr. Benson is a member of the Mu Omega chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, inc. where he has held many offices including Basileus and was named as Omega Man of the Year during that time. He was also Director of Publicity for the Epsilon Pi chapter during its formative years. He is a Life Member of the Fraternity and has been serving Omega since 1976.
David has served on the board of Determination, Inc., an organization of individuals who became handicapped as a result of gang war activities. He was also a director with the Chester Township Athletic Association. He served on the Board of the Mu Omega Foundation of Delaware Valley, Inc for over 10 years.
His primary function is overseeing the management and maintenance of the foundation website.
